SCHOOL OF DISCIPLESHIP
PURPOSE
The
overall mission
of Maranatha Community Church is ‘Building Champions for
God’s Kingdom.’ A Critical key to this is our obedience
to the Lord’s call and command to “go…make disciples”
(Matthew 28:19, NIV). That's Bible lingo for
encouraging ourselves and others to follow the teachings of
Jesus, consistently and authentically, in all parts of our
lives. Stated succinctly, our purpose is:
THE PROCESS

To fulfill
that purpose, we here at the School of Discipleship are
delighted to share with you that God has led us in the
realignment and enhancement of our discipleship program.
It is a step‑by‑step process that takes a person through
the essential areas of obeying Christ’s call to become
His disciple, and then as a trained disciple becoming
actively engaged as a disciple-maker.
Our
discipleship program uses a cyclical approach. The
process and the training materials flow around the four
(4) calls of Jesus that will take you on a journey of
growth through all the essential areas of growing in
grace and knowledge of God, learning to obey Christ and
developing a deeper intimacy in your relationship with
Christ and bring you to a place of maturity where you
come to the head of the arrow and to the starting point
as a discipler knowing how to take someone else on the
same journey.
Not everyone
will need to start from the beginning. People can join
in at various stages of the cycle depending on where
they are in their spiritual growth. A new Christian or
an older Christian who has never been
a participant in a
comprehensive disciple making process designed to take
believers through key areas of Biblical instruction
should join in at Discipleship
101. But a more mature Christian who has had some
training may start with the Discipleship 201 series.
Many people of different ages and different backgrounds
have experienced the life-changing power of these
courses. You can experience the power too! Our
Discipleship Ministry Team will assist you in
determining where to best start on the cycle as you step
into the flow to grow.
